The activities of the EURL-FV, based on Regulation (EU) 2017/625, where the responsibilities and tasks of European Union reference laboratories are defined (Art 94), aim to improve the quality, accuracy and comparability of the results at official control laboratories and thus ensure high-quality, uniform testing in the EU and support Commission activities on risk management and risk assessment in the area of laboratory analysis. The general objective of the action is to contribute to food safety by ensuring the availability of harmonised, high quality and reliable methods of laboratory analysis and by ensuring their correct implementation by National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and official laboratories (OLs) in official controls. The activities described in the Working Programme are classified into three main groups: 1. Availability and use of high-quality methods; 2. Scientific and technical assistance to NRLs; and 3.
