About

Since 2010, Antonio Valverde is full professor of chemistry at the University of Almeria, where he was co-founder of the Pesticide Residue Research Group. Prof. Valverde is author/editor of a hundred publications, most of them original research papers published in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Journal of Chromatography A, Food Control, Journal of the AOAC International, and other internationally recognized scientific journals of analytical and agri-food chemistry, being recognized with “5 Research-Excellence Steps” by the Spanish National Commission for Evaluation of Research Activity. Prof. Valverde is a founder-member of the Committee for the European Pesticide Residue Workshops (EPRW), being the chairman of EPRW´98 and EPRW 2020. Since 2004, he is a member of the “Advisory Group” appointed by the European Commission (DG SANTE) for the revision/updating of the EU requirements on quality control in pesticide residue laboratories (EU-AQC-SANTE Document). Also, he is a member of the “Quality Control Group-Scientific Committee” of the proficiency tests (EUPTs) on pesticide residues organized by the EU Reference Laboratories (EURLs). For 10 years, he was collaborating, as technical auditor, with the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC).
